Plasil and Newcastle United
From the Newcastle United Blog
We saw the piece in the Daily Star (and reported in Tribal Football this morning) that Newcastle are being linked with a potential move for Jaroslav Plasil, the Czech defensive midfield player.
The news is that an unidentified Premiership club could make a late swoop to snatch the player from under the noses of Spanish side Osasuna, according to the Monaco player’s agent. If anything happens it’s supposed to happen by the end of the week.
The Daily Star Sunday says Newcastle are the premier league team attempting to steal Plasil - so let’s take a look at what’s going on here - and see if we can make any sense of it.
Jaroslav Plasil
The 25-year-old has two years left on his current deal at Monaco - but he is now ready to quit the Principality outfit. Plasil is wanted by Osasuna to bolster their left-sided options. The Spanish side have already tabled a bid for the 25-year-old midfielder, but a bid from England could beat the Liga outfit to his signature - according to his agent Pavel Paska.
Pavel Paska told MF Dnes:
“The offer [from Osasuna] is lying on the table. We are only waiting for the statement from Monaco. “I expect it to be decided on Thursday or Friday. Jarda does not have to move anywhere though.
He has been considering the offer because the Spanish league has always been a league he wanted to play in.
“But there is an offer looming large from England too,”
It looks as though Plasil really wants to play in Spain although the way agent Paska framed the English bid above - we can only assume his client is interested. Plasil was quoted recently talking to the Spanish press:
“I want to play in Spain, because in those countries the teams play to win, in France they play to avoid defeat,”
Reports in Spain are also suggesting Osasuna could potentially strike a loan deal with Monaco with a view to a permanent transfer at a later date.
We all know that Sam Allardyce wants to sign at least and 5-6 players and Newcastle will be linked with each and every player that may be available. But it does seem that Sam is after another defensive midfield player to battle with Nicky Butt. It may also be that Sam sees Plasil as a left back – which of course we need desperately. The other link to us could be that we have just signed David Rosehnal and David is a team-mate of Jaroslav on the Czech republic team.
In fact both started in the latest Czech European Cahmpionship game against Wales when Sam Allardyce was in attendance. Both David and Plasil also played in the French league – so it may be that Sam and David have talked about Plasil’s availability - and it could also be that Sam was impressed with Plasil in the Czech Republic - Wales game.
We really don’t know if this report has any truth in it - but what we do know is we need both a defensive midfielder and a left back – and it appears that Jaroslav can play in either position. The potential link to Rozehnal also gives the story a little credibility - plus Sam has recently seen Plasil play. It’s supposed to be decided by the end of the week – so we’ll keep a lookout on this one - but there does seem to be a thread of credibility to the story.
For the record - Plašil is 6′0” tall and played for the Czech Republic at Euro 2004 and the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He has been at the French league club Monaco since 2000 and played in the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2004. In that season, Plašil scored a goal in Monaco’s record-breaking 8-3 defeat of Deportivo La Coruña. He has played 109 times for Monaco scoring 5 goals and has represented the Czech Republic 17 times scoring once.

Michael Delura linked with Osasuna move
As published in the Spanish version of Osasuna Agency, the Pamplona based outfit could be interested in signing Schalke 04 player, Michael Delura. According to the German press, the player was not present at the training fields and is rumoured to be in Spain, being Pamplona the strongest possibility. Michael Delura can play in midfield and up front and made his debut when he was only 18 for Schalke 04.
He was a promising youngster but has failed to show in the past two years on loan with Hannover 96 and Borussia Mönchengladbach the star he was meant to be. Maybe he can find a new route to success here in Pamplona.

Cuéllar won´t force his exit
He wants to play for Rangers. Everyone knows it but he will respect Osasuna and if a deal is not reached, he will accept it and play for "los rojillos" another year.
From Sky Sports.
Rangers have made Cuellar one of their top transfer targets after he impressed against them in the Uefa Cup last season.Walter Smith's side are believed to have had a bid rejected for Cuellar and the player's agent Pedro Bravo is hopeful a deal can be agreed to suit all parties."There have been offers. The most recent one was not satisfactory to Osasuna and Cuellar will continue to be an Osasuna player with pride," Bravo told Diario de Navarra."To allow Cuellar to go to Rangers, there must firstly be an agreement between Rangers and Osasuna."In their heart, Osasuna know what the player wants. But at the moment we can't do anything else."We are in the hands of those who have him contracted and who pay him."Cuellar is very grateful to Osasuna and he is not going to force his exit."If Osasuna do not accept the offer from Rangers, it will be their right and we will respect them."Cuellar wants what is best for Osasuna and for himself. If there is an agreement with Rangers, Cuellar will sit down with Rangers to see if he can reach an agreement.

Nekounam and Soldado in UEFA´S revelation squad
Both Iranian and Spanish internationals, Javad Nekounam and Roberto Soldado have been chosen in UEFA´S revelation squad for this season. UEFA, at the end of each season ,selects those players who have made an impact in La Liga being new players or young rising stars.
The team is as follows:
Gorka Iráizoz (RCD Espanyol); Torres (Real Madrid CF), Alexis (Getafe CF), Garay (Real Racing Club) y Puerta (Sevilla FC); Cazorla (RC Recreativo), Nekounam (CA Osasuna), Casquero (Getafe CF) y Jankovic (RCD Mallorca); Soldado (CA Osasuna) y Zigic (Real Racing Racing).
The opinion of UEFA journalists is that "Nekounam has adapated perfectly to the Spanish League in his first season, playing great matches both in the League and in the Uefa Cup"
"Soldado has confirmed what he started showing last year, with 11 goals and being his strength and effort very important for Osasuna´s achievements "
Congratulations to both players!

Another day full of rumours
Plasil,Kepa Blanco,Gerardo...What a nice team we would have if all those rumours turned into confirmations.
As we mentioned earlier, Plasil is far from being an Osasuna player. 4 million Euros is a sum Osasuna can´t pay and "the rojillos" will have to find other ways of negotiating or bringing the player to Pamplona
Ex-West Ham striker, Kepa Blanco, is also on the transfer wish list, but again those 3 million Euros already offered by Getafe and his wish to join Athletic make him another player who we don´t think will be wearing a red shirt next season.
Gerardo from Sporting Gijon, on the contrary, doesn´t seem to like the idea of continuing in Asturias. He has waited for a much better contract proposal from Sporting but it simply hasn´t come. Osasuna should only find battle for this player in other 1st division teams like Levante.
Plasil has a 4 million Euro price tag
According to As, Monaco would be willing to sell Jarsolav Plasil to Osasuna for around 4 million Euros. This would indeed clash against Osasuna´s transfer policy that consists in signing out of contract players or bargains. Monaco know Osasuna have cashed in around 20 million Euros after selling Raúl García and David López and hope to make some money on a player that has never seemed to establish in the Principality.
As we mentioned yesterday in Osasuna Agency, Plasil´s agent would be negotiating directly with the club here in Pamplona.
Plasil, Valdo, Cuéllar...who next?
Names,rumours,agents... Today has been a very busy day, although a day in which almost nothing has been confirmed.
What we do know thanks to L´Equipe, is that Pavel Pavska ( Jarsolav Plasil´s agent) visited Pamplona yesterday to talk with Osasuna. The idea is to sign the Czech international on loan with an option at the end of the season to make a permament deal.
Valdo has finally been presented as a new Espanyol player. He decided not to continue with Osasuna despite a very interesting offer from the club. Osasuna will claim a 1,5 million Euro compensation fee just as it was established in a meeting between Spanish clubs last year.
According to The Evening Times, Rangers chief executive Martin Bain is still negotiating a £2m deal with Osasuna for Cuéllar.
Finally Gerardo and Camuñas ,both from second division clubs, will soon decide if they join
Osasuna. Gerardo is a right-winger who can also play in defence and Camuñas is an interesting midfield player.
Astiz off to Legia Warszawa
He had offers from other second division teams in Spain, but he has accepted the challenge of going abroad. Urban described him on Legia´s website:
"He is good in the air, has the ability to take out the ball. The only problem is, how will he deal with the pressure put by fans. But I hope he will do enough. He is in the similar age as the majority of our players. As a matter of fact, he should have no problems to enter the team."
We wish Iñaki the best in his Polish experience and we hope Legia Warszawa complete an excellent season.
